When you need advice on a specialist area, how can you be sure you are receiving the best possible advice, to allow you to make the BIG decision?
A good friend of mine has found a solution to this question, specifically in the branding, corporate image, logo design area. She is planning to change the logo for her business, and has introduced me to an interesting little web site called ‘99 Designs’. I’m probably the very last person to hear about this site, but I’ll tell you about it anyway as I have been quite struck by it.
It works on the premise that you put your design brief onto an open forum style page, and set a limit on what you are prepared to pay. Contestants can then choose whether they want to participate or not, and if they do, they show their suggestions on the same page. The winning contribution gets the job and the money!!
In my friends example, and do please go and take a look, her business is called ‘Grow a Better Business‘, simply follow the link to see the brief, as well as the suggestions from designers all over the world for how they would redesign her logo.
Richard, what a star, thanks for promoting this competition for a new logo and it just goes to show how powerful the whole ‘internet thingy’ can really be. I’ve often recommended 99designs.com to clients but have never actually used it myself – and I can guarantee that this won’t be the last time either.
